The Hero’s Journey of Julien Mier

What is the best thing that I love about my work?  Inspiring people what I do and help children to teach them important values trough the museum exhibitions I do the Sound Design for.

What is my idea of perfect happiness? A balance of physical and mental state. The right amount of pressure, urgency and relevance of the work and life you’re having.

What is my greatest fear? That my ambition and work become a repetitive loop resemblant to a 9 to 5 job.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself? Closing up, becoming a social hermit. All the while I never want to feel like being that person.

What is my greatest extravagance? I’d say food and travel, because I feel like those are things that you shouldn’t count your dimes on. And you never know what comes around the corner, so it’s a good investment.

On what occasion would I lie? If it would unnecessarily hurt someone else their vision or emotional well being.

What is the influence of role models, in my work and in my life? Very important, they teach you to become a better person. They’ve walked a path and that will help you to carry you further then you could walk that road yourself.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work? I have to use computers too much, they can become very lonely conversational partners.

When and where was I the happiest, in my work? When I travel to other countries, and perform the work I do. There’s something immensely magical about getting feedback on the work you do from a different culture.

If I could, what would I change about myself? Becoming more outgoing, more fearless. I think too much, therefore I’m sometimes stuck in answering natural impulses and spontaneous bursts.

What is my greatest achievement in work? Helping other people find their way in their lives and inspiring them to do the things they love to do.

What is my most inspirational location, in my city? A quiet park on the edge of a bay with a view of the whole skyline of Sydney.

What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city? I have no favorite places to eat and drink, I love a lot of different initiatives all over the city. It’s about being there with the right people.

Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime? Family and close friends are the most important people, I can’t chose

Whom would I like to work with in the future? Ryuichi Sakamoto, Koji Kondo or someone like visual animator Cyriak.

What project, in the nearby future, am I looking forward to work on? A featured film. But I love all types of projects and don’t want to discriminate
