The Hero’s Journey of Hard Ton

What is the best thing that I love about my work?
The chance to meet so many different people, in different environments, with different stories and different minds, but sharing the same passion for music.
What is my idea of perfect happiness?
Me and my boyfriend cooking together a Tonkotsu ramen for friends.
What is my greatest fear?
Running out of food!?!
What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?
I’m too lazy. Also too lazy to change my laziness.
Which living persons in my profession do i most admire?
There’s so many artists I love and admire. And not just the obvious pioneers or the people “who made it”. I actually respect lots of producers who are not the headliners of the big festivals, but still believe in what they do and they still enjoy making (great) music.
What is my greatest extravagance?
I don’t know, for some people is that I am also a heavy metal singer. But this feels quite natural to me.
On what occasion would I lie?
When I got interviewed!
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?
Long stop-overs at the airport. And small seats on some aircraft.
When and where was I the happiest, in my work?
I had so many great moments to be honest. When I’ve held our first vinyl, when we played in Tokyo the very first time (well, I’m always happy to be in Tokyo, btw!), when we got the chance to work with people that I admire so much like Dimitri From Paris or Man Parrish. Luckily, this list could go on and on.
If I could, what would I change about myself?
Well I’d love to have a bubble butt, and learn how to twerk!
What is my greatest achievement in work?
I’ve got rid of my shyness, and I’ve learnt to love me and my body. Being Hard Ton is like a therapy to me.
What do the words ‘The Financial Freedom to Create’ mean to me?
An utopia! I’m not so sure that the big mainstream names are so free to do whatever they want. I’m probably more free than most of them. But I’m definitely more poor.
Where would I most like to live?
I love Venice, so I’m glad to travel to other cities but I’m also happy to come back home.
What is my most treasured possession?
I can’t live without my iPhone… this is sad, I know.
What is my most marked characteristic?
My body, my voice and my sex appeal.
What is my most inspirational location, in my city?
The Guggenheim Museum for the art and for his beautiful terrace on the Grand Canal.
What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city?
La Casa Bonita Restaurant, close to the Jewish Ghetto. Fish is their specialty and it’s not ultra expensive.
What books influenced my life and how?
Camille Paglia, “Sexual Personae”. It has freed my way to look at art. Now I see sex everywhere.
Who are my favorite writers?
Oscar Wilde, Pier Paolo Pasolini, James Baldwin, Curzio Malaparte, Virginia Woolf…
You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day?
AC/DC’s Highway To Hell… oh yeah!
Who is my hero or heroine in fiction?
Wonder woman. She’s strong, she’s got style and she fights the good fight.
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?
My dad, but he left this world too early.
Which movie would i recommend to see once in a lifetime?
Teorema by Pasolini. It’s powerful, it’s deep, it’s Pasolini.
What role plays art in my life and work?
Art is a huge source of inspiration, for my costumes, for my videos, for my pictures, as much as fashion and pop culture. I did one picture tribute to Roy Lichtenstein and one to Botero, for example.
Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?
Well, mia mamma! I know that’s so Italian cliché, but she’s always there for me.
Whom would I like to work with in 2018?
Stuart Price, ‘cause I love his sound and specially what he did with Madonna. Nile Rodgers, ‘cause he’s the funkiest man on earth and he seems to be a lot of fun. Rob Halford from Judas Priest, ‘cause I’d love to be in a queer heavy metal band.
Which people in my profession would i love to meet in 2018?
Lady Gaga for a casual meeting… and for recording a duet!
What project, in 2018, am I looking forward to work on?
Oh we have some release already scheduled. And they are quite diverse. The next release is a 80’s HI-NRG thing with remixes by legends like Man Parrish, Daniele Baldelli & Dj Rocca, and Leo Mas & Fabrice. We have a 12” coming out early next year which is an acid dark stomper. Another one with a delicate slow-tempo anthem to diversity which will involve Massimiliano Pagliara and Soulphiction as remixers. Blablabla…
Where can you see me or my work in 2018?
Well, our next date is at Nitsa in Barcelona in November, so let’s make a fiesta, amigo
But if you need a dose of Hard Ton, just YouTube me and dance to our music!
What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me?
I think music is a powerful passion. I can retire from making music, but I will never retire from loving music.
Which creative heroes should Peter invite to tell their story?
Our muse and friend Gaia Chloé Brigida. She’s an amazing make-up artist, an uninhibited performer, and she’s also involved in our side project The Fool’s Stone, with which we’ll be releasing soon an album on David Carretta’s label.
