New Year Journey 2020
New Year Journey Itinerary
Saturday 11th January – Wednesday 15th January
As a general rule, if we’re looking to master a discipline or set of skills, there’s a school that can teach us. There are culinary schools that can teach us how to cook; journalism schools that can teach us to write; even clown schools that can teach us how to fall over or throw custard pies. Yet there’s an entire side of life for which, until now, no school has existed: a school that can teach us storytelling skills – like knowing your own story, the power of your story to have creative confidence, resilience and serenity – that we need in order to live well and find meaning and living happily ever after. That’s why we set up The Hero’s Journey : a travelling academy for creating and developing your story power.
Our 5-Day Journey is a crash course in storytelling and psychological well-being. We’ll cover topics such as how to choose our creative quests more wisely; how to make money doing what you love; how to manage anxiety, regret and shame; and how to become more creative confident. You’ll be taught by Peter de Kuster and his world-class team; meet and learn with a group of like-minded strangers; and study what history’s greatest storytellers have to say about your creative life’s greatest problems. Practical, engaging and comprehensive, it’s perfect for anyone looking to get more out of your creative life – but aren’t quite sure where to begin.
Join us for the opportunity to master the fundamentals of the creative life, the power of your story and become a more confident, happy and successful creative woman – all in a single week. Spaces are limited, so book now to guarantee your spot in the journey

Day One: The first day of the New Year Journey is designed to equip us with the core skills of The Power of your Story . We will learn why our minds have a hard time understanding themselves, how to rewrite the story you tell yourself about yourself and your creative work. Transforming your creative life and business in the process.
Day Two: The second day of the New Year Journey takes us on a structured journey around creative confidence and the power of your story in the face of stress. Agitation is always in essence a mental phenomenon, it is a result of the stories you tell yourself- and a calm mind-set therefore relies on having to hand a raft of calming stories that can be called upon in moments of panic. In the evening, we will attend a What’s Your Story Dinner in a local restaurant – learning to overturn small talk and master the art of opening up our deepest selves.
Day Three: The third day of the New Year Journey teaches us how to choose our creative quests wisely and make our projects have lasting meaning and impact. One of the gravest errors we make around storytelling is to imagine that they aren’t things we can get wiser or better at. On this day we will learn to practise and rehearse our skills at storytelling with impact.
Day Four: The fourth day of the New Year Journey teaches us how to achieve our creative career potential. We will employ stories of creative professionals who went before us to be better able to understand our talents and to move forward using the opportunities that are open to us.
Day Five: The final day of the New Year Journey explores creative thinking in life and work. Many of the challenges we encounter in modern life require us to develop creative solutions to complex problems. in our career management, money management, time management, self promotion and organizing ourselves. And even when we’re not tackling big problems, continuously improving the way we live using invention and imaginative strategy is deeply important.
